Hi there,

I know, this discussion has not been updated for quite a long time, it still is a case for me.

I once bought AES for Amahi 6 and now it has not yet been updated to work with Amahi 7 if I understand the wiki correctly.

Why I'm complaining about this is that none of my eight drives in the HDA (one for the system and seven for greyhole) even spin down. They always make noise so I finally managed to put the HDA from my sleeping room to the store room. But even if it is in there I hear it rumbling through the door.

Is there any chance to get AES running again? Or is there any other option to make the HDA save power and spin down the drives?
Four of them are connected to the board's SATA ports, the other four to a crappy and to be exchanged SATA1-PCI controller :|

The system itself is an embedded Celeron from last year or so, so that doesn't blow my bill, but I think, the drive's power consumption is able to do that.

Maybe some service prevents the disks from spinning down, but I don't really know. I have CrashPlan running but I am not able to change any settings, because this https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Crashplan does not work here anymore.

I'm quite stuck with this and hope that someone could help me.

Thanks in advance.
Jan

Not likely it will be updated for Amahi 7.

Check the wiki as I believe there is a script you can run that will spin them down after a v predetermined amount of time.

If I find it I will post the link.

This might help:
#power drives down after 10 minutes idle
/sbin/hdparm -S120 /dev/sda
/sbin/hdparm -S120 /dev/sdb
You can add it to a cron job.

On my system, hdparm does not seem to be installed. Is it part of the standard installation? If not, how can I install it?

What is the OS you are using?

BTW responding to a CLOSED thread is undesirable. Bet to start a new one.
