App Suggestion: phpVirtualBox

Postby jiml » Fri Jul 23, 2010 3:13 pm

Description from http://code.google.com/p/phpvirtualbox/

"An open source, AJAX implementation of the VirtualBox user interface written in PHP. As a modern web interface, it allows you to access and control remote VirtualBox instances. Much of its verbage and some of its code is based on the (inactive) vboxweb project.

phpVirtualBox was created for people (like me) who prefer not to have to log in to their headless VirtualBox host to administer their virtual machines."

Haven't tried it myself yet but definitely worth investigating.

I wasn't looking into it really. I just suggested it, the same way the OP did above. :)
I don't think it would be difficult to package.

It's on my todo list. I hope to take a stab at it this week.

Ok, almost have a working app for VirtualBox and phpVirtualBox on Amahi. I have the phpVirtualBox working on my HDA. Its the VirtualBox install that I am still working up documentation on.

If all works well, I will have an Amahi App that installs both together or maybe an app for each one. I will be looking for some testers soon :)

Ok folks, here is some guidance for VirtualBox and phpVirtualBox for Amahi Fedora 12.

http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/VirtualBox

Until the Amahi app is ready, this will give you something to play with :) Have fun and report any problems that need clarified in the wiki.

Tried this out using the wiki and got stuck at "From the Amahi Applications tab, create a web app called phpvb". I can't see anywhere to add a web app, all I can see is "Installed and Available" or am I looking in the wrong place.

That is the right area, but ensure you have advanced settings enabled. Go to the setting tab and there should be a checkbox there for advanced settings.
