Hi guys,

ok, got it. Thanks for notifying me about the issue.

As a workaround, edit aes-config and remove the quotation marks in the line defining Interval:

Code: Select all

Interval: 180
The next version, which I will hopefully make available during weekend, will fix this problem.

Cheers,

jayrock

I am a complete noob to this linux stuff. How do you update your application? Just replace the files or is there a bit more to it?

Hi IceFragmatic,

then you have two options.

(i) wait a few days until the new version comes up, there will be an install script as in the current version

(ii) If you installed aes, I assume you know how to open a terminal and get root access. In a termial, type

Code: Select all

dbus-launch gedit /usr/share/aes/aes-config
This opens gedit, just modify the file, save it, off you go!

Hi,

Amahi Energy Saver version 0.4.5 and AES Windows Client 0.9.1.5 are available on Google Code. This introduces "Server Power Save now", which allows to trigger the server's power save state from the Windows client. To access the functionality, right click on the AES Client icon in the Windows task bar, then select "Server Power Save now"

Amahi Energy Saver 0.4.5
============================
- Support for "Server Power Save now" introduced
- Problems reported in the forums are fixed

AES Windows Client 0.9.1.5
============================
- "Server Power Save now" introduced in context menu

Enjoy,

jayrock

It's supposed to use the same power save state this is used during normal operation of Amahi Power Saver. The one that is configured with the 'shotdowntype' parameter.

To further troubleshoot this please fpaste your logs (both server and client).

Hello,

Did you follow this guide to select shutdowntype? http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Amahi_E ... utdownType

Please use pastebin.com, fpaste.org or similar to submit your full logs. Without the full logs I can only guess that your machine does not support "standby".

Hi jayrock,

just as a feedback: aes working nicely on my Intel SS4200-E with Core2Duo E4500, 2GB RAM and 4 HDDs.
ACPI S3 and Shutdown flawlessly, servers shuts down after last client disconnects and restarts with the first (2 Win7 Workstations, 1 Win7 Netbook).

BTW, what about DHCP? I'm using fixed IP-Adresses at the moment, so I could not test it. Does AES affect the server acting as DHCP server?

Nice program, especially with the energy fees here in Germany (I believe some of the higherst in Europe).

Greetings and thanks!

Thnx for the feedback!

AES does not interact with DHCP but relies on MAC and hostname. I don't foresee any issues in that area. What is it specifically that you think about?

if i use the hda as dhcp server and it is suspended, will there not be problems with clients requiring dhcp leases?
