I hhave set up the new amahi 5 on Fedora 12. It runs fine on the server machine. I can access it from an ubuntu machine if I log into the fedora and I have alot of music to the amahi music folder. But I have several questions.
1 How do I access the shares from a windows xp machine?
2 How do I access the amahi from outside?
3 How can I stream my music with ampache to computers outside or inside for that matter? I can't even get it to stream on the amahi machine.
4 how do you get gallery working and accessible from the outside?
5 how to set up and use vnc and webvnc? I have web vnc installed from the apps page.
I ran through the amahi instructions on setting up vnc. But I can't seem to access it. In the amahi instructions it tells me to modify a certain file and I tried but was not allowed to.
I have looked through the amahi faqs/documentation etc and while I do find a document on how to set up ampache, and I did get it to catalog my music. I even looked on the ampache site and did not find anything helpful. I do not see how to access it from another computer.
also My winxp machine does not even see the amahi server. I would like to be able to stream to it but also to access the shares from it.
How about accessing the server when I am traveling. I leave on this Sunday and it would be able to add stuff to the shares and stream the music and show a photo gallery to the relatives.
Anyway as you can see I am basically lost as how to get any of this working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and the sooner the better as I need to get it fixed and working tomorrow and part on Saturday. Thanks again.
BTW I do have my router dhcp turned off and Amahi feeding the addresses out to the other computer in my house.
PS. After leaving and looking at the other sections, I think this probably should have been in the beginners section. So if a moderator wants to move it...

Its not advised that you have direct access or really set up to have access from the out side world but you can talk to cpg about custome DNS more about it in the blog http://blog.amahi.org/2009/12/08/amahi- ... -holidays/ towards the bottom of the page. This will allow for outside access to your amahi apps
Install the app and then see answer above about outside access. For more information about the workings of gallery2 you can visit http://gallery.menalto.com/4 how do you get gallery working and accessible from the outside?
