Ok no worries. Your problem sounded like a different issue since you did not mention the power outage.
Unfortunately a power outage likely corrupted the server. If that is the case, you will have to start fresh most likely.
You might find a way to fix it by searching the internet, but hard to say what the problem could be in a case such as yours.
Recommend you invest in a UPS Backup battery as that will prevent the outages, especially brown outs from corrupting your server.

I had the same issue, I could not log in, in emergency mode as the system wanted the password for Root and wold not except any other admin account password. Google saved me as you can edit the boot loader to install a password for Root.
