The hostile email landscape is quite an interesting article for anyone who wants to run their own email server.

Opened my eyes and just the tip of the iceberg so to speak. I've decided to leave this to the experts and just use the established mail services vs trying to run my own.

Interesting read. I have been toying with the idea of setting up my own email server... Not on my HDA, of course... But when i ended up seeing up email for my domain, in the end I went with Zoho's free option. I was thinking about it again, with cool scripts like sovereign and mailinabox oit there, but maybe I should give up and use Google apps or something.... It's half the price of a VPS....
