If I open up two shares on my Windows 7 client machine and copy files from one share to another, my HDA will crash. Crash hard too. The NIC even stops responding and will only come back with a cold shutdown. Not even a reboot. Odd.
I have a a complicated HDA setup, so there are lots of points of failure. I thought I would ask the question here in case this has happened to anyone else. If not, I'm probably on my own trying to solve if it is my Virtualization software (xenserver 6) my Greyhole setup (manual since I'm on 7.1), or my low quality NIC add-in card (dual GB Realtek card), or something else.
Neither of these shares have been specified to Greyhole, so I am hoping to rule that out right away.
Thanks for any tips or suggestions on where to start.

Re: Copying files between shares brings my HDA down
I'm going to chalk this up to a bad NIC. It sure might be something else, but my NIC was cheap and removing it seems to bring up speed and a few other issues I was having. I have not tried to copy between shares from a client though. I need the machine to stay up for a while.

Quite possible that was the culprit. Hope you get it resolved.
