Urgent - Fedora repos for F9 not working well

Postby cpg » Sat May 09, 2009 1:14 pm

A lot of new users are having issues with installs.

SOLUTION (reportedly works)

1) run this in the command line (as root):

Code: Select all

rpm -Uvh http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora/updates/9/i386.newkey/yum-3.2.21-2.fc9.noarch.rpm yum clean all hda-install YOURCODEHERE
(alternate link for that yum rpm above if the above does not work )

if that does not work,

2) install Fedora 10 instead, which is reported to be working

-------------

We're investigating as fast as we can at the moment. It looks like the fedora 9 repos have been updated in a way
that is not compatible with the yum version in the DVD.

The symptom is that the hda-install.log file has things like this:

update - we have released an update to take care of this for new amahi users automatically.

considering whether we should issue it for all amahi users.

if you see someone asking why they cannot update or install new programs under F9, this is why.

ask them to update yum as above.
