I am a noob to Linux and servers. I successfully installed Fedora 14 and Amahi 6.1 with some effort. However, none of the computers on my home network recognize my \\hda. I have 2 Windows machines and 1 iMac. At the server head I can connect via http:\\hda. It gets me to the control panel. However, when I start Amahi installer, FireFox gives me a message connection to Localhost:2000. Is this why none of my machines don't see my hda? Also, I don't see "shares" in my file manager.

Already tried: "rpm -Uvh http://alpha.amahi.org/tmp/rubygem-pass ... x86_64.rpm". I got the following error message when I tried this:

Retrieving http://alpha.amahi.org/tmp/rubygem-pass ... x86_64.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
rubygem-passenger = 1:3.0.0-8.fc14 is needed by (installed) rubygem-passenger-native-1:3.0.0-8.fc14.x86_64

If you have installed Amahi, why are you trying to reach the installer? To access the HDA, it's http://hda.

Recommend you try the shares troubleshooter in the wiki.

I presume you are using Amahi for the DHCP/DNS server duties and have turned off those features in your router. If not, that is part of your problem.

Not sure why you are doing this. It sounds like you are trying a bunch of things that are making the situation worse. If you had problems with install, then that could mean that it did not completely install correctly.

There appears to be a lot going on here. Might be best if you stop by the IRC, #amahi channel for help.

Thanks. I agree I was trying to do a lot for a simple issue. Everything is fixed and my HDA is up and running. Already added one hard drive for videos. Will be adding more soon and checkout Greyhole as well soon.

Quick update. I am up and running with full power. I have attached 4 external hard drives - one each for music, pictures, personal videos and movies. I can watch videos from any computer. Now I have to figure out how to watch the videos from my TVs which are connected to the internet via my wifi. Any suggestions as to how to connect them to my Amahi HDA?

BTW, I have over 4.5 TB of disk drives running on this server. This does not include the server itself which has 500 GB out of which only 109 GB is allocated to Fedora and Amahi. The other 300+ GB is the Windows partition. After a few months of trying Amahi, I plan to completely remove Windows from that machine, which will free up 300 additional GB.

Lastly, it would be nice to connect WD Netcenter NAS to my Amahi HDA. Any suggestions on how to do this?

Use one of the media streaming apps, such as DLNA.

As for connecting the NAS, can it be connected as a secondary hard drive? If so, you can follow the wiki guidance to do that.
