Having trouble mounting Windows share

Postby AndyNJ » Tue Mar 01, 2011 6:08 pm

This is driving me nuts and I'm hoping I'm not reposting this issue here when someone else has already had/solved it, but Googling has yielded nothing.

I'm trying to access/mount shares from two different Windows 7 machines from Amahi (Fedora 12) and I keep getting "Unable to mount location. Failed to retrieve list from server." However, I am able to access my Mac's shares just fine and, going in the opposite direction, Windows 7 has no problem accessing my Amahi shares. Also, my Mac can access the Windows shares and the Windows computers can access each other.

I've tried everything I can think of and all the sharing on my Windows machines should be set up fine.

Anyone encounter this?

Is the workgroup set the same on all clients and the HDA? I believe the HDA defaults to HOME and of course we know MS defaults to WORKGROUP.

I've tried using the same workgroup and different workgroups. It makes no difference.

Can you mount them by using their IP address? I know it's not quite the same but I always struggled to permenantly mount my samba shares by name and got fed up and just used their IP address instead.
