Amahi crashed for no apparent reason

I was streaming media from the server to my entertainment system like I've done thousands of times, when the server simply disappeared from the network. SSH didn't respond, and the file shares were unreachable also. Attempting to get into the Amahi Dashboard got nothing but DNS and "site not found".
After rebooting the server, X would not start, and when I logged-in with SSH and ran a "top" command it appeared that mySQL was running in safe mode and using most of the CPU and hard drive resources. Trying to get in to the web dashboard gave a "ruby could not be started" error similar to this one: http://forums.amahi.org/viewtopic.php?f ... rash#p5277
I'm at a loss to explain what happened here.
ALL my data is stored on a RAID, and once I unplugged the RAID and reinstalled the data appears to be fine so I'm out nothing but time.
Has anyone else had anything like this happen?
