Timing!

I think it's just timing.
With the combination of consistently cheaper (used) computer parts, further mass Linux adoption and the advance of the home network, it's only a matter of time before it really catches on.
Once they soup up ways for me to connect my TV, thermostat, security system, etc., then it will become a necessity. And opposed to WHS, it will be free.
I'm just not sure if technology will move towards one big homogeneous cloud, or suggest for little self-managing home clouds to share the skies.
