How to connect to RAID card??

Postby ReneZ » Sat May 22, 2010 4:38 am

I have installed a RAID card in the server with two hard disks attached. Previous set-up was a SSD with the OS and a HDD with the HDA /var/hda/files/ etc. I have copied the files from the HDD to the raid drives, but am running in a problem setting it up so the server mounts the raid card drives correctly. I have followed the "add second hard drive" in the Wiki, but get stuck with the fstab entry. hda-mount2 gives no indication of an ID for the card and I'm wondering if I can use sdc1 instead of the UUXXXXXXXXXX number.

The raid card has resulted in the drives being identified as sdc1 with the original data dis as sdb1. If I get the mounting organised as above,m can I then remove the data disk. Basically - if I remove sdb1 will sdc1 remain sdc1?

Thanks, Rene

PS Raid card is 3ware 9500 type
Cheers, Rene

nope, the enumeration is done at boot time, and sequentially. if your previous config was sda, sdb and sdc and you remove sdb then after booting you'll have sda and sdb. the UUID sorts this out for you and makes the binding persistent.
