Re: LINUX.COM Amahi Aricle
Great article. Amahi just keeps getting better.
I love my Amahi server. I've been using Amahi for a couple of years, and have occasionally struggled with getting it to do what I wanted my home server to do. Essentially, I needed a server that I could access anywhere--my own personal "dropbox" with 2Tb of storage instead of 2Gb. I tried OwnCloud, but could never get it to work consistently. And then there was the problem of not being allowed to install the necessary software on my work computer and the firewall that blocked access to my server (anyone have a portable usb app for direct connect and Own Cloud?).
I'm still working on how to simply drop files onto my server; however, I have an iPad and have installed the Amahi ios app on it. This allows me to access files, and even stream videos (something I could never get my server to do before). I am very happy with the app and hope to see other great things from you all.

Re: LINUX.COM Amahi Aricle
Amahi Sync is similar to Dropbox and works great. You could use the OpenVPN ALS web app and access files from work. As long as you can port forward the app and access that URL from work, it will give you access to your files and some web apps.
It's a nice clientless VPN that has been part of the Amahi app store for many years.

Re: LINUX.COM Amahi Aricle
Ok, I didn't know that. I thought Sync was a just a backup service to back up network computers. I'll look into that. Thanks.
I should also add that the more I use the IOS app, the more impressed I am. Don't even think about killing this app. I love it. Is it possible to add in uploading remotely? Editing documents?

Re: LINUX.COM Amahi Aricle
No problem. If you have a feature request for the iOS app, please submit a ticket in the bug tracker.
