Amahi wiki reporting "There is currently no text in this pa"

Postby rafkid » Fri Feb 11, 2011 9:46 am

I was researching the installation of VirtualBox onto my HDA whilst logged onto another one of my PC's, my Ubuntu box on my home network. I ended up at http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/VirtualBox which had lots of lovely information on the page. I then moved to my HDA (physically adjacent to the Ubuntu box and I can see both screens simultaneously) and I typed in the URL http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/virtualbox, being lazy I had omitted the caps on VirtualBox. To my surprise the web page failed to load as in the Ubuntu box but rather told me there was "There is currently no text in this page. You can search for this page title in other pages, or search the related logs. Retrieved from "http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Virtualbox" Interestingly the address bar in Firefox had corrected the lack of capitalisation for the "V" of virtualbox and was now reading identically to the page that did load the wiki information but without the capital "b" of virtualbox, but itself would still not load any text after an F5. Whereas if I typed in http://wiki.amahi.org/inex.php/VirtualBox (NB: with caps on VirtualBox now) the correct page with instructions loaded correctly. Just checking I tried the no-caps version of virtualbox on the Ubuntu machine running Chrome once more with the same result, non-capitalised URL's display with "There is currently no text in this page. You can search for this page title in other pages, or search the related logs." I have seen the message enumerable times before with the wiki on other searches and assumed (realistically?) that it was a work in progress I was looking at rather than what appears to be a problem with caps in the original address bar or in a search bar on the forum/wiki site itself. It seems that unless your URL is correctly capitalised the page will not successfully display even if the address bar does put in the the initial capital correctly for you.

I have just tried the search bar in the wiki at http://wiki.amahi.org and "virtualbox" brings up the correct page, whereas http://wiki.amahi.org/Virtualbox in the address bar does not. Needless to say http://wiki.amahi.org/VirtualBox does bring up the correct page. Am I right in thinking that this is a function of the address bar in any browser and is something I have simply failed to notice after many years of internet use? Yikes! Surely not!
