FlexRAID on Amahi instead of Greyhole?

First, hay to everyone!

Is it possible to use Amahi home server with FlexRaid instead of Greyhole? I prefer more raid-like approach with parity and all that stuff. Thanks for any answers and have a great day.

Not sure, but worth a try. Greyhole can be turned off. If you can document how to do this, we might be able to package it as an app.

FlexRaid installation seems pretty straightforward:

FlexRAID Host
Make file executable
(chmod +x FlexRAID_Basic_Host_1.4_beta7.bin)
Install with ./FlexRAID_Basic_Host_1.4_beta7.bin
When prompted for directory use :
/home/<USERNAME>/openegg

I'll test it today on my test server (80GB disc, amd 2200+...etc.)

Cool. I did look at it and it does seem simple. I tried it on a VM, but could not get the web UI to work.

The steps I performed are documented here:

It appeared to start, but the web UI would not come up. Not sure if I made all the correct changes in the init script.

Maybe you will have better luck. If so, please update the wiki so others can try. If we can test it and it appears to work well, we can try to package it for Amahi.

It worked in the first go for me. I just followed this:

I didn't edit any files, just those 4 steps.

And make sure you also disable Greyhole :

steps I took to disable greyhole:
chkconfig greyhole off
remove /etc/monit.d/greyhole.conf
service monit restart
service greyhole stop

Yes, I think we have a pretty good install document in the wiki now. All that is needed is to get a working init script.

Ok, I finally got my server with 3x2TB WD Green so I'm ready to get the script working.

Can you just point me to a tutorial?
