phpMyAdmin

Postby snowguy » Wed Jan 07, 2009 11:16 pm

I figured I could install phpMyAdmin. No clue what I'm doing so forgive me if this really belongs in the newbie forum.

Here's what I did...
As root:

yum install phpmyadmin
then went to http://hda
clicked on manage my hda
- Web Apps
- New Web App
Root Path: /etc/phpMyAdmin
URL: http://phpMyAdmin

At this point if I go to http://phpMyAdmin I get the default fedora apache page
At this piont if I go to http://hda/phpMyAdmin I get denied access--which I take as a good sign and I proceed to...

nano /etc/httpd/conf.d/phpMyAdmin.conf
and comment out the deny from all line

now I'm feeling great like all I need to do is go back to http://hda/phpMyAdmin and it will work. But alas, instead when I go there at this point I get just the hda storage page...no clue why.

Suggestions?

also i dont know if your hda addes a /html at the end of the root path, if it does you will need to go into the conf of the file you just made, ie /etc/httpd/conf.d/1030-phpMyAdmin.conf and remove that in the 2 places it has it in

Hey that worked. I don't know my username and password but I'll look around to figure that one out before coming back here to ask more questions. Thanks!

i figured out that the user name is root and the password is hda. what do you all think...? Is it fine to leave the password as hda or is that a security issue? If I should change it I"m worried I'd break something about how hda works, does anyone know what files I'd need to update if I chose to change the mysql password?
