Looking at my logs, I noticed that the ProFTPD service was being restarted regularly. It appears that monit is doing the restarting, because it is looking for the proftpd.pid file in /var/run/, whilst the file actually resides in /var/run/proftpd.

I've updated the monit conf file for proftpd (proftpd.conf) with the correct location of the pid file and restarted monit, which appears to have solved the problem.

I'm still running Amahi 7, so the problem might be solved in Amahi 8 (or there is something odd about my setup).
