CLOSED: Permalinks in wordpress

Can anyone help me get the pretty permalinks working on a wordpress site hosted on my HDA?
i've tried going by the instructions on the wordpress site, but i cannot get it to work.

Any help?

im looking for the mod_rewrite rule to change per the wordpress directions but cannot find the file to modify.

I will try to test it out when I have time.

UPDATE: I updated the app to use the mod_rewrite. Log in as admin and go to settings. From there choose permalinks and choose the one you desire. Save it and log out. When you select a link on the WordPress page, it will display clean URLs.

Bigfoot,
when you say you updated the app to use mod_rewrite, how exactly did you do it? Ive tried to add an .htaccess file as instructed by wordpress, but the links become all broken.

I dont understand where to find the file where you add the code to allow wordpress to use my .htaccess file.

Uninstall the app, then reinstall. Follow my instructions after the word UPDATE and it will work.

I updated the app to do most of the work, except enable the permalinks which you must do after logging in.
