transfer application purchase

Hello,
I spent a couple of weeks trying to get amahi up and running on ubuntu with mediasmart server for the hardware. Was never able to succeed for multiple reasons. Finally unintsalled all the apps and deleted the hda's I had set up. cpg suggested to start over using amahi 7 install which i did. Did a full clean start and created new nickname as well. Now of course, the apps I purchased under the old nickname do not show up under the new nickname. Is it possible to transfer those? Or should I go into paypal and say merchandise is not available to get money back and then just repurchase them.
Ideas?
