Joomla uninstall joomla 3.02 reinstall 1.7 fails

Postby mshall » Thu Jan 03, 2013 8:36 am

I made the mistake of upgrading to joomla 3.0 only to realise I would need extensions that are not yet available. So I uninstalled and re-installed. Something is wrong because some of the home page is corrupt, and I cannot access many other pages at all. Admin is accessible.

I don't know where to start in working out what to do. I would be very grateful for help.

Do I need to do anything in addition to uninstalling to get a clean basis for re-installing?

Probably a database issue. When you uninstall the app, it automatically backs up the database. Then on install, if a previous database exists it is imported.

Recommend you uninstall the app. Then go to /var/hda/dbs and remove anything that has joomla in the name. Reinstall the app and it should work fine.

If not, check the apps log directory for issues.

Awesome. One day we will have an option per app in the dashboard for database backup/restore. That way you can choose to restore or not restore a previous version.

Sorry for any inconvenience.
