Not working after following your instructions... Found this though in/var/hda/web-apps/qbittorrent/logs/error_log :

Is this what you get when you try to access it from the HDA or within your network? This log does show something is wrong, but did you check the app install log as I mentioned previously? If there was a problem on install, then we need to start diagnosing from there.

You could try to manually restart the app as root user:

Code: Select all

service qbittorrent restart
Is this a normal HDA install using the Fedora 14 DVD? Did you perform any customization to the system? Reason I ask as often the install method and any changes made to the system manually cause problems with some apps. We build the one-click install to work on a fresh install with no Fedora updates. By doing so, apps success is far greater.

Hmm... So, here's the applicable part of my install log, which looks like it installed, but clearly there's a problem:

Code: Select all

Your HDA services have been restarted. Starting qbittorrent-nox: [ OK ] bash: qbittorrent-nox: command not found App: qBittorrent installed ======= app install end @ Thu May 03 14:35:34 -0400 2012 ==========
Given that, when I try a service restart, I'm not surprised to see this:

Code: Select all

Stopping qbittorrent-nox: qbittorrent-nox: no process found [ OK ] Starting qbittorrent-nox: [ OK ] [root@9745 tv]# bash: qbittorrent-nox: command not found
Is this a normal HDA install using the Fedora 14 DVD?
Yes

Define customization... Have I installed some apps from scratch? Yes. Have I updated via YUM, yes. I have not messed with the kernel or anything crazy like that.. I haven't messed with the Amahi database or anything like that...

We build the one-click install to work on a fresh install with no Fedora updates. By doing so, apps success is far greater.
Understandable... At the end of the day, for me right now, the issue with qbittorrent is minor.. we can troubleshoot if you like to improve Amahi, but I'm actually fine with Deluge right now.. I'm using it with Flexget for RSS Feeds and blowing the results into Plex Media Server (Yes, installed manually... :-/ ) and publishing everything through Roku boxes.. It's actually a fabulous solution.. I just wanted to see if the integrated RSS feed functionality in Qbittorrent would beat the combined Flexget/Deluge solution.

For a while I've had issues with manual installs via rpm as many sources have archived the F14 content and moved on to F16... so I've been considering moving away from Amahi because of the time it's taking getting over to F16... getting that latest version of Greyhole (which is very important to me) and so on... I actually prefer Ubuntu anyway.. I know that there are limited resources, but I've offered to assist with testing on at least 3 occasions on these forums and have never received a formal request or invitation.. I wonder how many others there are out there like me who would be willing, but haven't received offer.

Ultimately though.. if the response is that I'm officially "off the reservation" if I perform any manual install's, then it's really a no-go for me.. I've got SageTV, Plex Media Server, Mister House, Zone Minder, FlexGet, and more installed on this boxed.. I've got a quad core CPU with 8 gb's ram, 9 Tb's of storage space and 300 gb landing zone.. The way I look at it is this.. If I'm going to have a box chew up $20 in power a month, it better do a bunch of stuff.. and based on recent history, I'm sure we won't be getting a one click install of all the apps I've got installed any time soon..

Ok, looks like the service is not working. I am unsure why, but appears as if a file may be missing from the install. I will have to test the app myself and see what is going on. Hoping I can duplicate your issue and then resolve it.

I can understand your frustration with Fedora 16 version of Amahi not being ready. Testing is not the issue, its the developer resources that constrains our progress. That is the reason why have not done much solicitation for testing. Getting volunteers for that is easy, but having something ready to test is another story. We are trying our best, but so many events have caused us to be delayed much longer than expected.

If you want updated Greyhole, you can upgrade it on your own. There is guidance in the wiki how to do it. I have upgraded mine a few times and works fine for me. Nevertheless, I can understand your position. I wished we were in a better position for using Ubuntu, but unfortunately that is a ways off. One volunteer developer working it makes that tough.

Not sure if you are aware, but Amahi is all volunteer based. We don't have the option of hiring additional developers at the moment. So we have to do the best we can.

I just wanted to know how extensive modifications might be. It does not seem that the other apps should cause a problem, but one can never tell. I will check this out tonight and post my results. I am hoping it's something simple.

Thanks for the reply...

At the end of the day, my box is running and it's stable... I can't remember when I had to reboot because I lost access to the server or there it locked up or something of that nature. That is saying something.

I'll be here to continue troubleshooting if you'd like to move forward.

Thank you for your replies.

Thanks for the assistance. I have not had a chance to test it, but hope to tonight. We are focused on Fedora 16 at the moment, so this might get trumped.

Just did a test install of qBittorrent. It worked fine for me. Makes me think there is something wrong with your install.

I am testing on Fedora 14 VM without Fedora updates. Once installed, I accessed the app and logged in with no issues. Checked the amahi-app-install.log and there were no errors.

So I am at a loss what is different between your setup and my test environment.
