What is the best way to upgrade an app? I tried doing it "manually" for Ampache but it didn't work ie. As per Ampache instructions.

Best way for most is to uninstall, then reinstall to pick up the new Amahi version. If there is a new version of Ampache and we need to update it, please let us know.

Many apps have a feature that backs up the database when you uninstall, then restores it when you reinstall. Not sure if this one has that option, but you can manually back up the database on your own. Use phpMyAdmin, Adminer, or via command line if you are so inclined.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. It looks like I chose the wrong method although I couldn't find info stating the contrary within the forum or elsewhere.

Things have gotten worse because now I cannot access the HDA dashboard now URL or IP. DHCP is working though as connectivity and shares are good.

I couldn't find anything particular in the logs including production.log and I ran Pommepause's troubleshooter that was good until step 8:

Using the Network Troubleshooter, I failed step 8 - HDA Dashboard accessible?. Here's a paste to help troubleshoot: http://pastebin.com/mHVEVguT

I suppose the best solution now is to:

1-uninstall Ampache
2-get access to the dashboard
3-reinstall latest Ampache via Amahi

I think step 2 might not be so easy but I'll see if the dashboard appears after the uninstall.

What I recommend is you reverse the steps you took to upgrade manually. Once you do so, everything should return to normal.

If you provide a link to the guide you used, I would be glad to help.

Here it is. It sounded simple but it takes full abstraction of Amahi's structure. I'll be working on this over the weekend.

Note that I commented out the rss line as suggested.

I appreciate your support.

Why not just install the Amahi one-click app? If it needs updating, I can do that. Seems like a pain to do it manually.

Does one-click require the dashboard? If so, is there a sure-fire way to get to it without starting with a browser's address bar?

Yes, it does make use of the dashboard and web browser.
