My wife has a number of professional magazines she gets and we were discussing how to organize them so she can find articles of value years later (she is a music teacher, so old articles are still pertinent).
I was thinking that any app that worked as a book catalogue would work also for individual articles in a magazine.
Does anyone have any experience along these lines and any recommendation?

Re: Magazine articles
maybe a searcheable archive would be something for you? The only reference I can find is ibiblio, I know there are others.
You can do several things: scan your documents and have em parsed by the OCR, or scan to pdf and rely on a local search engine (apache has a very powerful one called lucene) so you can just search every file on your hard drive for the content. I like this best since you don't have to muck around with metawords/tags and such - you'll always find yourself putting in different tags when you write them from when you want to find something

Re: Magazine articles
Nah, my wife wants her mags to read when she wants and only some indexing tool to find that elusive article about a particular teaching method. So it is metawords and tags for us, sigh. There are a BUNCH of stuff I would love to OCR and throw the paper out, but even though I just picked up a 1.5TB drive to put on my server, I don't see this happening soon. First have to covert our cassette collection to MP3maybe a searcheable archive would be something for you? The only reference I can find is ibiblio, I know there are others.
