uShare v DLNA app

Postby mfacer » Thu Sep 02, 2010 9:10 am

I had uShare working - then spotted the DLNA app... what's the difference? I have a Samsung TV which supports the DLNA - along with my xbox360 (I think!) .... but if uShare does DLNA - why have the standalone one?

because in a previous release uShare did not work with a Samsung TV. I set out to search for a replacement and I found minidlna; written by someone at Netgear I think for their NAS boxes. I wrote a little script around it and posted it here and eventually it became a real app for Amahi.

Ah cool - well thanks for it! I have a samsung series 6 and have just updated the firmware... the issue I have is with the sound. MKV files play nicely... but there is no support for the audio codec. I assume it's the DTS licence issue... you had any problems?

I thought I'd read somewhere that there was a firmware which supported the DTS decoding... but so far, I've not managed to get anything to work. It's a real pain. I'm not going through my collection and re-encoding the audio.. it would take forever! Ah well...!!
