the fact that you are using phpmyadmin (a load weapon, if you ask me), could be at the root of this problem.

i just installed phpbb three times and all three worked. looks ok to me.

we should have a flow diagram like this:

Code: Select all

[do you use phphmyadmin?] / \ no yes | | proceed sorry, we can't help you :( | | ...
:)

someone should make this into a small graphic, for the wiki :)

So, does having phpMyAdmin installed prevent a One-Click Install of phpBB?

no, having phpmyadmin does not prevent the one-click installer from working automatically (besides, it's one of the apps!).

it's just that who knows what you have done with phpmyadmin. maybe you have done something that prevents the installer from creating a database. or updating it. we don't know that what may be wrong is not user-inflicted.

we're a small team, so supporting all possible usage scenarios is impossible. otherwise the project would not move forward at all.

Ah! I see, yeah that's fair enough, phpMyAdmin is a powerful tool and I did change the root passward and have to change it back, so I know what you're talking about.

OK, the One-Click-Installer prolly works fine if you don't feck about in phpMyAdmin before deploying phpBB. I'll try to work out how I broke it (I'll report any useful findings) or just deploy a manual install. Thanks again guys.
