Hi
Quick questions about Amahi 8 ..
Will the release be an auto update or is it more of a reinstall with fedora 21 ?
When will it be officially released ?
Sorry if there is an open thread for Amahi 8, i just could not find it through the search bar - If there is nothing for Amahi 8 can we have a sticky ? I got some news via google+ but nothing solid

Re: Amahi 8
Hello,
See the Amahi 8 (Fedora 21) for details.
Trust me there will be an announcement and much hoopla when we do release so you won't miss it.

Will NOT be an auto update. There should be an upgrade path, however it will require some apps to be uninstalled prior to upgrade. New install is always best of course. Will the release be an auto update or is it more of a reinstall with fedora 21 ?
We are still in ALPHA release phase with no estimate of going to BETA at this point. I anticipate potentially in the next month or so though, but depends on many variables. When will it be officially released ?

Re: Amahi 8
Whats new in Amahi 8 than newer Fedora version. Why should I wait for Amahi 8? Im still running Amahi 6.
Re: Amahi 8
Just a recommendation. The wiki page I directed you to outlines the new features.
We no longer provide any support for Amahi 6. With Amahi 8, there will be updated applications and new ones added as well.
It's your choice, but I would recommend an upgrade at some point. Security updates might be a concern if the OS is at end-of-life.

Re: Amahi 8
Will there be some upgrade path from 6 (ubuntu) to 8? The reason I skipped 7 was the lack of Greyhole built in (I already had it working on 6, and didn't want to jump through hoops to get it going on 7) and I couldn't see a way to have 6 running while I did the initial configuring of 7 and then seemlessly switch over and have 7 take the IP address of 6.
I'm running 6 in a VM right now and would like to make the transition with as little down time as possible to 8 if possible.

Re: Amahi 8
No real simple upgrade path from Ubuntu to Fedora 21.
You might find the HDA OS Migration Guide helpful.
There is no other way to migrate from one OS flavor to another. Upgrading from Amahi 7 to Amahi 8 is more automated and requires little user interaction as noted in the wiki link I provided in a previous post for Fedora 21.
