Greyhole is not working. When shares have the "Uses pool" option checked they cannot be accessed. Removing this allows them to be accessed. Relevant packages are:

Code: Select all

# uname -r; rpm -q samba hda-greyhole 3.1.2-1.fc16.i686.PAE samba-3.6.1-75.fc16.i686 hda-greyhole-0.9.16-1.i686
The Samba log contains:

Code: Select all

[2011/11/28 17:00:06.902758, 0] smbd/vfs.c:173(vfs_init_custom) error probing vfs module 'greyhole': NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL [2011/11/28 17:00:06.903068, 0] smbd/vfs.c:315(smbd_vfs_init) smbd_vfs_init: vfs_init_custom failed for greyhole [2011/11/28 17:00:06.903328, 0] smbd/service.c:877(make_connection_snum) vfs_init failed for service Pictures
Thanks!

yes, thanks. the new VFS modules need to be re-compiled in F16 with point 3 in the Greyhole install instructions

Those directions worked, BUT it was necessary to download the latest version from the git library as the source tarball did not contain any Samba 3.6 files yet. Thanks!

I have a test box up and running. The Fedora DVD has always kicked my butt when it comes to dl'ing a clean copy and getting a good burn - the F16 version was no different, so I resorted to trying the netinstall version. I was a bit concerned since it will will generally install newer versions of some files, but it worked perfectly. Everything that I see reported as working seems to be working. I had to update Greyhole to get it going - everything appeared to be there, but it would not write to the .gh folders. The update fixed it.

What is happening on the development front for Fedora 16? Has been VERY quiet, no updates and apps still not available. Thanks!

It is still being worked. Keep in mind with the holidays and our small volunteer team, it will takes time to move from one version to the next. Especially with some of the changes we have encountered going from Fedora 14 to Fedora 16.

Keep tuned in for more updates. While we have set a release date yet, I anticipate it will be sometime around the middle of Jan 2012 at the latest. We still have some work to do to ensure stability for the community.

Thanks for your support and interest in Amahi. We hope you will find the next release worth the wait.

Thanks for the update! Look forward to seeing the updates. Went with this version not wanting to need to upgrade right after, but no apps is a bummer. Thanks again and completely understand the limited developers & holidays!

bigfoot65/cpg, any idea when Alpha support of F16 x64 will be in place? Getting my new HP MicroServer N40L Monday and am thinking about going w/ F16 so I don't have to upgrade later.

Honestly I have no idea. Development has been progressing slowly, so I would anticipate until we get 32-bit stabilized, 64-bit will not be available.

I am hoping we have most things ironed out by mid Feb 2012, but that is just a guess.
