Just for anyone reading this, plugging my OS into completely different hardware has worked fine. Everything is intact and running so far as I can see. Greyhole is functional as before. No problem.

Re: Failed Motherboard
Awesome! Pity I'm too lazy in the first place, that new server has sat there for 12 months now!
Thanks for the reply.

CLOSED: Failed Motherboard
I'm running Ubuntu version of Amahi 6. My motherboard has failed, booting isn't possible anymore. I've got my OS drive, and 3 storage drives. Is there any harm in plugging the OS drive into another motherboard and booting up? I ran the upgrade script a while ago, perhaps I can use this fail to move ...

Re: Amahi and Greyhole install on an HP Proliant Gen8 Server.
I have a few questions regarding the install on the Gen8. Did you make any changes to the BIOS to remove the "Bios FW Bug Found" on boot? And which LAN port did you use? I've just installed using LAN1 and whilst it was picked up, the install is now reporting that the network is unreachable...

Re: Migration from Amahi 6 to 7 new hardware
Thanks for your help, much appreciated. Actually, does this sound feasible? I just keep the new server OFFLINE, using the same install code so it has the same IP (i'll take the old one offline to let this one install). Then just use a spare drive to transfer data from one PC to the other? Trying to ...

Re: Migration from Amahi 6 to 7 new hardware
Thanks, that's the guide I was going to follow if keeping the original disks.
So I do this, then I can introduce new drives / remove old drives using the -going command?
This could take a while!

Migration from Amahi 6 to 7 new hardware
Re: https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Migrate_Amahi_Data I've bought myself a HP Gen8 Server and a 128gb Solid State drive to go with it. I currently run Amahi 6 on a tired old Atom D525 PC with 3x 2TB drives (I've already emptied a lot on Amahi to remove my 4th drive). Thinking about upgradability, ...

Re: Permissions of Files
Oh boy... Well, I ran as you suggested, followed by greyhole -X and the missing files are back.BTW, I presume you are using command line to look at these files as root user. If not, that may be why you get permission denied.
Thank you very very much!

Re: Permissions of Files
Ran that twice; once last night. I noticed this morning that /var/hda/files/drives/ only contained one directory. So I rebooted and reran greyhole -X. Same results as earlier. /mnt/samba/Docs/ is empty /var/hda/files/Docs/ shows lots of red symbolic links /var/hda/files/drives/drive2/gh/Docs/ (and t...

Re: Permissions of Files
I know you were going to say not to mess with GH, that's why I asked first :) I stopped the mount shares locally service, removed the folders, restarted then ran FSCK with the FIND ORPHANED FILES option. Still no joy yet. Example; 1stuseradmin@hda:/mnt/samba/Docs/Finance/Alpari/Alpari Account Statem...
