Re: FILE ACCESS DENIED
it's a common problem with samba as people tend to think the samba permissions are the be all and end all when in fact it's the underlying file permissions (not the samba permissions) that are giving them the issue.

Re: alot of outgoing port 80 connections
they probably are. i have 6 squeeze devices connected to amahi running squeezecentre. i'll take a closer look at the firewall states in a few days but my guess is it's to do with sqeezecentre streaming etc

Re: Disk mirroring
Of course that can be done, Linux doesn't care about the connection, it just wants a block device of similar (or larger) size. Basically you could have a USB disk and a iSCSI disk and mirror one to the other. Or the storage on your phone (e.g. android phones can be used as a usb stick) which you mi...

Re: Disk mirroring
looking at the op's request, my guess is that the drives are usb. so i went on a hunt to see if usb could be raided as i've never heard or seen it done. http://eclug.homelinux.org/content/view/158/59/ so it can and i've learnt something new although i'm not sure whether its common practice. i may ev...

Re: Disk mirroring
mirroring..... when you mention this, most people think raid 1. the fact you have external drives (usb or esata?) makes using raid a little harder. that is, if you mean raid. personally, i think raid for amahi is a little over the top. not just for amahi but for a lot of things unless they are missi...

Re: a little more control over dns?
unfortunetely, i can't. my programming days are over after it nearly cost me my marriage. i'm one of those peeps that get so engrossed into things, everything else falls to the wayside and i start living and breathing code. i daren't pick it up again. scripting every now and then is my limit now.

alot of outgoing port 80 connections
my firewall is showing a lot of http requests going out to various servers from amahi. is this normal behaviour? eg. ftp2.uib.no, box.theshell.com, clamav-sj.viaverio.com to name a few just wondering whether it's anything to do with squeezecentre streaming radio? its been the same station but loads ...

Re: a little more control over dns?
great! amahi is great but it would be better if you could have a bit little more advanced control over it if needed eg by disabling certain parts. i suppose the get out clause could be "no support if you untick this option!" in an advanced panel (hidden by default?) eg allow zone transfers...

Re: more than one hda?
and the simple answer is yes.....
the naming defaults to "your account-2", "your account-3" etc
this time, i've also given it my AD domain name so i'll see how this goes as i plan on using centrify to see if i can get the hda & win2k server living in harmony together.

Re: more than one hda?
it's not so much the different subnets & vlans i'm bothered about. its whether the hda setup can (the login part on the web where you get your install code) can do more than one hda for one public ip.
