Re: help installing with express cd
Just installed this last night for comparison purposes. When you install choose the first install option and make sure there is a dhcp server so the installer can get an IP address for web access. Enter your install code when prompted. When the system asks to reboot remove the CD and reboot. Once re...

Re: Amahi 6 Express CD Alpha 1 release!
Agreed, the default partition table for the installer is to use it though. Using a custom partition table and leaving out the lvm works fine and is my preferred method too. I would think that some users would like LVM to be available for storage drives though. Total size of LVM with dep's was less t...

Re: Amahi 6 Express CD Alpha 1 release!
Just had a good boot... Here's how it went, please excuse the brevity with which was written. Installed using all defaults. That means it created a 500MB EXT4 /boot and a lg_vol on sda2 with / and swap. Reboot fails as already noted. Booted to rescue mode (enabled networking when prompted) and did t...

Re: Amahi 6 Express CD Alpha 1 release!
Should lvm2 be included in the installed rpm's on the i386 ISO, it's not :D - looking at the anaconda logs there are alot of errors relating to lvm2 missing. The anaconda storage log shows that the tools are available during install for creation of the lvm group but there is no indication that the t...

Re: Amahi 6 Express CD Alpha 1 release!
Tested the 32-bit version in VMware briefly today, I found the same results already posted - no root device, sleeping forever. I tried again, this time using a custom partition layout - No LVM and no EXT4. /boot 200MB ext3 / 6.0GB ext3 swap 500MB This booted to a logon prompt after a few amahi setup...

Re: Does Amahi require to be running as a DHCP server?
That's exactly the intent... On another NAS solution I was using a script on my router to watch the LAN clients and wake/shutdown the NAS "on demand". Incidentally the NAS drives a relay to power on/off the laser printe, within my little MDF - I cut out about a 100W draw for 24hrs to about...

Re: Does Amahi require to be running as a DHCP server?
This applies to those of us running open firmware on our routers, from Thomas other thread it looks like he's running DD-WRT. I'd been looking up how other people have broken DNS away from their HDA, found alot of questions but not alot of solutions so I thought I'd share it here. Over the w/e I got...

I was about to post links to a thread about that. I figured it was the same thread you got the pictures from.

Re: Advice on Network
How are you using the DD-WRT router? If you are only using it as a wireless access point there is no need to have wired traffic going through it - set it as an AP only and connect it to the switch. If it is also taking care of your firewall functions, check into whether your modem/router can be conf...
