Re: VNC-Servre - Must the UBUNTU HDA be non desktop ?

My HDA is solid this morning as I suspected it would be - so great news. Installed apps last night and VNC was more stable and we know that's because I had a bad OS install previously. I say it was more stable this time because I could turn the server on/off in control panel, it was responsive and t...

Re: VNC-Servre - Must the UBUNTU HDA be non desktop ?

I have an hda again and things are looking good. a) HDA Installed after bare metal install of ubuntu os b) Clients (Win 7 pro) connect sucessfully and shares visible. c) Notice during os updates (applied after amahi install - as suggested) very different activities which make me suspect the initial ...

Re: VNC-Servre - Must the UBUNTU HDA be non desktop ?

This is where it all gets terribly terribly sad........ let me explain..... Re: VNC-Servre - Must the UBUNTU HDA be non desktop ?

Thank you - I will do as suggested and report back.

Regarding your question about installing, the instructions I used were from the "get started" link which led me to http://docs.amahi.org/ubuntu-12.html which I followed for the install. There were no issues with the install.

VNC-Servre - Must the UBUNTU HDA be non desktop ?

Having trashed ny fedora HDA for an Ubuntu one I downloaded and installed Ubuntu Desktop. Does this mean I have to trash this new build and install Ubuntu Server to get VNC running properly. I ask because having just purchased and installed the one click app it doesn't work sucessfully upon login. S...

Re: Stuck at Install and nowhere to go

Unfortunately the install may have had a glitch or two as when asking yum to update (as root) it replies that it ''cannot retrieve metalink for the repostiry 'Fedora' Please verify its path".....

Is that a yum config file problem or something more fundamental ? How do I rectify that please ?

Re: Stuck at Install and nowhere to go

Thanks for the suggestions. I used the express 64bit cd and failed several times until I edited the update package information by changing the URL's for Amahi and Amahi-updates to the F14.amahi.org location, unticking the mirror and ensuring it was http instead of https. I now have a running server ...
