Are you using Greyhole? If so you need to follow the instructions in the OS Migration Guide explicitly. When I upgraded to Amahi 8 from 7 I thought the Disk Wizard would read and mount the Greyhole drives such that Greyhole would find them and rebuild the links. It didn't work that way. Resolved. I was missing a prerequisite package. The glibc.i686 package is required for 32 bit Brother drivers on 64 bit systems. Once I installed that and reinstalled the drivers, CUPS found the printer. I guess it was just too late last night to be messing with it.

I'd be happy to. I use Crashplan with all my machines, Windows, Mac and linux. I back them up to the hda and then use Crashplan Central as a cloud backup. I haven't had to restore anything yet so I may be deluding myself but it appears to work well.

Dang. I thought that might be it but was hoping otherwise. I've held off on 8 so far because the Crashplan app isn't ready yet. Guess I'll go a head and take the plunge. Any idea when Crashplan might be released?
