Re: What does Greyhole do when a drive goes bad?
Unfortunately, I found out first hand that amahi does not provide indication of drive errors. I use my HDA primarily as a media server, and I noticed files would mysteriously disappear then reappear. The amahi dashboard didn't provide any error indications,. However, there were loads of errors when ...

Error messages @ boot
Not sure if this is the best place for it, but for lack of a dedicated hardware forum here it is. When I boot my server, the server monitor shows the following: localhost login: [ 80.070617] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -6 [ 80.172480] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -6 [ ...

Re: Plex not seeing shares
I don't know if it is the right answer or not, but I went ahead and gave the mount shares locally a shot. I followed https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Mount_Shares_Locally, and now I can select my shares inside of plex.
Just thought I would post in case anyone else has the same problem.

I recently upgraded from Amahi 7 to 8. With amahi 7 I used the Plex one-click install, but I was annoyed by the constant upgrade available message. This time I decided to try manually installing the latest version from Plex. I followed the instructions here https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Plex_Medi...

Re: Disk Wizard using mount points more than once
The initial install followed http://docs.amahi.org/amahi-8.html . For the added disks, I haven't found instructions for using the disk wizard app. I am familiar with https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Adding_a_second_hard_drive_to_your_HDA#Using_cfdisk from adding drives to Amahi 7, but this page now ...

Re: Disk Wizard using mount points more than once
The initial install was conducted with only the OS drive connected. After that, I added 4 drives using the disk wizard. I am now trying to add two additional drives. It is these two drives that the wizard mounted as sdb1 and sdc1 even though these mount points were already in use.

Re: Disk Wizard using mount points more than once
It started as a clean install, but now I am adding additional drives to a system that is already operating. The disk wizard only comes into play when adding disks after the initial install. It seems like this error could occur any time drives are being added. I had read multiple references to bug re...

I am rebuilding my server after upgrading to Amahi 8. After a clean Amahi 8 install, the greyhole rebuild did not go well so I've been copying files from the old disks to the HDA. Due to capacity limitations, I have to do this a couple disks at a time. After two disks are copied, they get added to t...

Re: Rebuild Greyhole Incrementally or All at Once?
I'm not trying to copy all of my data, that would be a last resort only. I was talking about transferring the GH config files that are referenced in Step 1 of the wiki. I haven't figured out how to back up these files from the old system drive to the new one. Copy from A: drive to B: drive I can do,...

Re: Rebuild Greyhole Incrementally or All at Once?
Keep in mind that if all your files are in the storage pool, they are on the drives in the gh folder. When rebuilding them, all that is typically done is creating the symbolic links that would be missing in your shares (LZ). Very little if any file copying should take place unless you have files th...
