Re: Amahi getting bad press?
I'm glad this was brought up. I originally used WHS as my home server solution for backups and media serving. I left it because WHS is expensive and functionality is limited. I was also not convinced with the storage pooling either. By the time I was brave enough to change over to amahi, I had alrea...

Re: Fedora 14 alpha - seeking testers!
my install process and report/hurdles I setup virtualbox and am runninga virtual machine with 12gb of OS space, and 2gb of swap, and 2gb ram. it's a 64-bit VM with most of the common machine items. here's my install selections/options thus far: - enter the installer - set repository (f14.amahi.org)...

Re: Transfer Speed Expectations?
my setup has all cat5e wiring, with a gigabit router and all computers have gigabit NICs, and for some odd reason, while everything else in the network runs full blast, my transfer speeds for files to the server tend to vary between 10 and 40 MB/s (as reported by explorer, Win7pro x64). Reading from...

Re: How to backup your Amahi
Great idea. Please submit a feature request at http://bugs.amahi.org . We will add it to the list of improvements for Amahi. There are similar ideas already submitted: http://bugs.amahi.org/issues/show/592 http://bugs.amahi.org/issues/show/212 The things about backing up only /var/hda/files is that...

possible to re-map main /hda/files ?
Is it possible to remove or re-map /var/hda/files if I have 2 other drives for greyhole storage?
Does amahi and its apps require /var/hda/files to not be greyhole storage?
If it's possible to re-map, could I re-map it to another drive/-partition?

Re: http://hda doesn't work, but http://hda.home.com works
1. what is SQuid?
2. I've had the similar issue, where all my browsers (chrome & firefox) in windows 7 pro, do not let the http://hda work properly.
On all my linux and WindowsXP machines, the http://hda does work fine.
hmmmmmm windows 7 methinks?

Re: Setting up WebVNC on your HDA
I recently had trouble with this too..
I am now using xfce Fedora 12 and vino doesn't seem to be there.
I'm gonna install vino when I get home today and hope things work out. .. Unless my vncserver config file has wrong syntax as I suspect.

Re: workaround.. gnome login loop.. on to xfce
hmm... could someone with afunctional webvnc post a sample of the vncservers config file?
I may have the syntax wrong for multiple users/servers.

workaround.. gnome login loop.. on to xfce
So recently I did something (not sure what) and somehow got fedora stuck in the login screen. In order to use webVNC, there must be a VNCservers defined user logged in to the desktop. I lost this somehow and first tried.. as root: yum remove gdm yum install gdm which gave me the same issue: when boo...
