Re: Clean install partitioning
Thanks moncapitaine for the feedback. I don't think that LVM provides huge benefits if greyhole is used anyway (But I'm no expert so please correct me if I'm wrong). What I intend with the guide in the wiki is that the resulting system is as close to one that's set up with the Fedora default. /jayrock

Re: Best partition scheme to use
If you are going to use greyhold I think you shouldn't use LVM for your data because greyhole takes care of pooling the drives. I also think you should use the same partition names as in the default install, you never know how much Amahi applications rely on this. In my latest install I did it like ...

Re: Problem with the --going option
It was actually my fault, the correct syntax is
Code: Select all
greyhole --going=/var/hda/files/gh

Re: Green computing?
Ok, so where else to continue? It works for me, my disks spin down, I can hear it and see it on a power meter. So I guess we need to find out what's different with your system. For instance, does disk spin down work under Windows?

Problem with the --going option
Hi, I have three harddisks, one of them having two partitions (i) system and (ii) the first pooled drive. (ii) is mounted to /var/hda/files because I want to use it as the landing zone. Now I want to replace that drive and tried to clean it out with the --going option, however greyhole presents me w...

Re: Show Us your home server
I like how small this is. So how many VMs are you running? Is the CPU staying cold enough without that fan?? what kind of temps are you getting? Thanks! It's indeed a very nice enclosure, and I like that it's expandable to 6 HDDs, even though I probably never going to have that many. To show the si...

Re: Show Us your home server
Ok, so here's my new server machine. When I built it I hadn't made up my mind whether to run WHS or alternatively Amahi with lots of VMs. ATM it's neither nor, but Amahi with very few (one) VM, so even the very small Core i3-530 is kind of overdimensioned. The Gigabyte board has only 4x Sata which i...
