My turn to loose a hard drive

Well Friday afternoon I lost the hard drive on my main Amahi server. And I don't have complete backups... So instead of working on Amahi F14 and such, I am busy putting up a new repo server to install from (as this server was my local repo server) and now to do the install then start recreating the ...

Re: Network config for dual NIC's

As long as the default route is to eth1, it is SUPPOSE to work. There is also a firewall app (that I have not used) that can help protect things. I recommend you look into it.

Re: Network config for dual NIC's

Right now Amahi can only work with eth0. That MUST be your nic for your Amahi clients, with eth1 being the nic for outside.

Re: DHCP help server won't start.

The HDACTL service rebuilds the dhcp.conf file. Editing it only fixes things temporarily. You have to look at your MYSQL settings table as to what the values are so that when the conf file gets rebuilt, it does not get hosed. Look at the advance setting options for dhcp. And/or install phpMyAdmin an...

Re: DHCP help server won't start.

You seem to be missing parameters on the following two lines in your dhcpd.conf file: default-lease-time ; max-lease-time ; Here are the same two lines from my file: default-lease-time 14400; max-lease-time 14400; Advanced settings allow you to change this value. Perhaps the OP set it to zero?

Re: Invalid Domain

Strange. I thought we fixed this long ago. My domain is htt-consult.com, and this IS my REAL domain. I have had it for over 15 years.

Re: eth0 to eth1

[quote="Irritus"If you don't mind me asking, why a wifi-ethernet card?[/quote] Duo ethernet is not that common. Replacing a broken onboard ethernet with a PCI card will happen as in your case. But more and more, people are NOT connecting systems ethernet, they are counting on using wifi. I...

Re: eth0 to eth1

I just could not squeeze it in last week. I have been travelogue in EU and will be coming back next Tuesday. I REALLY want to do this, I just have to put together a system with a second ethernet and a wireless card for testing.

Re: Boot from a USB drive, and what is the minimum drive siz

It is VERY hard to /boot and / to another drive. Better during an install to push them to you USB device. for / you CAN get by with 8Gb flash. Thing is that /var/log can get VERY busy and do you really want that on flash, for example. Thus you need a bit of knowledge about which branches to put on f...

Re: Fedora DVD really needed?

The apps, like OpenOffice.
Email like Evolution.
Keep Firefoox.

Most other stuff is piddling. But drop games, sound, and graphics and video (but these you MIGHT need for apps, but yum will just install them if needed.)
