Thank you moredruid, got it working now.

Re: Logical volumes and trying to mount backupdir readonly
Q: ummmm......if it's read only then how can anything write to it? i imagine you want it as read only for cetain users so that would be file permissions. A: Actually rsnapshot writes to /media/seagateusb/.private/.snapshots/ this directory is mounted again at /var/hda/files/backup. This way users ca...

Logical volumes and trying to mount backupdir readonly
I upgraded to amahi 5.1 by reinstalling my server and adding an extra harddisk. Fedora 12 uses Logical volumes, so I created one for the extra harddisk that I mount under /var/hda/files. I also mounted an extra logical volume on my system disk at /var/hda/files/downloads. This way I can also put the...

Re: Printer sharing on Windows 7
I did not use samba for printing but internet printing through cups in windows 7
I use for example http://hda:631/printers/psc-1310-series-
and for the printer driver: MS Publisher Imagesetter from generic printers.
works very well and I don't have to mess with printer drivers.

Re: phpsysinfo and temperatures
Hi cpg,
I am still a linux newbie and do not feel comfortable yet to package amahi apps.
I like Amahi but it still needs a lot of manual tweaking to get what you want. I think it needs to mature a bit more. I will try to contribute by posting my experiences.

phpsysinfo and temperatures
After the one click install of phpsysinfo I needed to do some modifications to get all system information displayed. For other users, this is what I did. first open a terminal session and login as root from another computer in windows with putty or in linux: ssh root@hda type sensors-detect keep pre...

Re: PHPfileNavigator - Web based file mangment
after solving the apache user problem I went on in configuring ajaxplorer as I liked the web interface of it. In trying to configure it for https I followed the instructions on the wiki: A few last notes: I forgot an important step. Do the following command in a terminal yum -y install mod_ssl then ...

Re: PHPfileNavigator - Web based file mangment
there is one last thing. user/groups changes do not take place until the user gets reloaded. did you reboot or at a minimum service httpd restart since you added apache to the users group? I didn't know I had to reboot. :o So I tried again after a reboot and now everything is working! :D Thank you ...

Re: PHPfileNavigator - Web based file mangment
make sure the folder you want to write with phpfile navigator are group writeable. maybe that's it? The folder /var/hda/files/books is group writable by users. I added apache to the group users and even made users the primary group of user apache. (apache was then a member of group users and group ...

Re: PHPfileNavigator - Web based file mangment
one fairly clean solution is to add user apache to the group "users" and giving the shares group write permissions! unfortunately, amahi does not support doing this from the web UI. you have to do it in fedora. With VNC I tried to add a user apache in fedora, but that user already existed...
