Hosts file w/ DNS, disabling "eth0" and SMB creds via DHCP
Hi, There are a few things that I'd like to get sorted on my Amahi box, but haven't quite figured out how... 1) I'd like a central place to manage some DNS addresses for testing/development purposes, and it makes sense to do this on the Amahi box! Currently, the way I do this for both Mac and Window...

Re: Slow SMB Local Copy Performance
I too am experiencing slow performance, copying from one share to the other (eg /mnt/samba/Share1 to /mnt/samba/Share2). It's averaging at 7.1MB/sec, and it's also taking up about 60-70% CPU on average while it's doing this! I too initiated the copy via VNC, but that shouldn't be an issue, should it...

Re: Can't access other network machines via VPN
I know this is a bit old but here is the answer for anyone that has found this thread through google. You need to follow directions at http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/VPN_Bridging. I wish I hadn't tried that page, now! In the code suggested for openvpn-startup, it has a hard-coded reference to &quo...

Re: How to setup Fixed IP Win machines and still resolve DNS
Just to add that, to remove the need for ".home.com" on a Mac with a static IP address, do this: 1) Go to "System Preferences -> Network" 2) Click on the "Advanced" button 3) Click on the "DNS" tab 4) Add an entry for "home.come" (or whatever the dom...

Re: How to setup Fixed IP Win machines and still resolve DNS
snakey147, that's perfect! Now the fixed IP machines function in the same way as the DHCP machines (ie don't need the Fully Qualified DNS).

Re: How best to set create multiple DNS records for static I
bigfoot65, you *are* the MAN!
I didn't think of using the aliases.
And you're right, they work (other than I have to use the fully qualified name when accessing from Static IP machines).
Thanks, that certainly opens up more opportunities!

Re: How to setup Fixed IP Win machines and still resolve DNS
Hi bigfoot65, The static IP *wasn't* set in the "static IPs" section of the dashboard for this machine, but I've just done that and it's no different - I kinda knew that this would be the case, as another machine was set up like this and it too had issues. To clarify, I can get to the full...

How best to set create multiple DNS records for static IPs?
Recently, I’ve been trying to move all my virtual machines to the Amahi box (using VirtualBox), and save me needing to have a Server2008 machine always running when the Amahi box is already on 24/7. Anyway, one of the issues I have is to do with using the same static IP for more than 1 DNS record. F...

How to setup Fixed IP Win machines and still resolve DNS?
Hi there, I don't know if this has been asked before (can't seem to find it), but I was wondering whether, if you set up a Windows machine to have a fixed IP, can it still resolve all DNS that you set up with Amahi? Eg, at the moment, I'm only able to resolve "hda", but all other web apps ...

Possible bug with stickies and similarly named Shares?
Hi, I've been trying to work out why something weird is going on with my Greyhole pool, and I reckon it's caused by similarly named Shares both using the same "sticky_files" info, rather than their own. Basically, I initially had a Share called "TV_Series" with the following stic...
