Re: trying to access hda by vpn
When you say you forwarded port 1194 did you specify UDP or TCP (or both). OVPN uses UDP on port 1194.

Re: Super Slow SMB
In the future you could test this using the dd command. Run the following command in the terminal as a normal user (not root). dd if=/dev/zero of=./dummy Wait for about 10 seconds and then press Ctrl+C or ^C and you will force the command to stop. After dd stops it will give you statistical informat...

Re: Whats your HDA Server uptime
Sadly,
03:09:47 up 16 days, 12:55, 0 users, load average: 0.00, 0.02, 0.08
But it's not Amahi's nor Fedora's fault. Power outage. Don't have it on a UPS. Before that I was above 200 days though. I have a server at work that is up for 847 days. Gotta love Linux and free/open source.

Re: trying to access hda by vpn
Post your myvpn.conf file omitting any passwords (if any) so that we can see the setup you're using. What is the domain of your local network at home? Also, are you attempting to test this from inside your own network? Because you can't VPN into a network if you're already in that network. See also ...

Re: Amahi on Lenovo IdeaCentre D400
I haven't tried that but I don't see why that shouldn't work. Fedora 14 is a live CD. So what I recommend doing is creating a live CD and booting up your WHS and make sure you have full functionality. E.g. does the sound work? Does the network work? Are there any deal breaking software failures such...

Re: Super Slow SMB
Are you connecting through wireless? The speed is what I would expect if you were connected through wifi 802.11g.

Re: Installation within VirtualBox
If you're running in a GUI you could use gedit since Fedora uses Gnome. Press Alt+F2, type gedit, and then enter. Or you could learn a terminal editor such as vim. Press Alt+F2, type gnome-terminal, and then enter. Once you're in the terminal run the following command: su yum -y install vim vimtutor...

Re: Replace hdd and the server "desktop" of amahi server
It's also a good idea to zero the free space on your Amahi server before using Clone Zilla. This isn't just for Amahi but a practice for images in general. The image size will be smaller too if the drive wasn't in a zero state.
Code: Select all
dd if=/dev/zero of=~/zerofile
rm ~/zerofile
