Re: Whoa, sudden difference!
Yea both boards have gigabit LAN, but I'm thinking perhaps the drivers Linux had for it were bad? The board (XFX 750a) was riddled with issues in the Windows gaming realm when it first came out, which could perhaps contribute to the mess it was in Linux.

The new motherboard has 2 fewer SATA ports so I added a PCI-express SATA controller card for extra ports. Everything e...

Re: Transfer Speed
Out of interest what kind of throughput have you seen since solving your cable issue. It's important to note that those are limits based on the specifications, and do not represent real world scenarios which include overhead and interaction of all devices involved. Aside from hardware and drivers S...

Re: Transfer Speed
I may be an intermediate Linux user, but I've been working with computers for many years. SOme of what you say is not news and some is just odd.. A CPU boost from 1.6Ghz to 2.3Ghz quad-core might give a "slightly" and I mean VERY slight change in data transfer speeds... We're talking mere ...

Re: Best way to move system to new HDD
I'm no expert but... 3 of 4 of my storage drives (which are all pooled with greyhole) are WD Greens. I've seen no issues so far and I've had my HDA running for a year now. If you wanted to move everything, I would suggest... 1. get an image of the system drive and put it on the same size drive Fedor...
