Re: Confused about hard drive partitioning......
I would do a straight install to a small OS drive like BF said and after it's all installed reboot and add a second data drive at say /dev/sdb /mnt/datadrv where all data is kept seperate from the OS in case of disaster. I also do single large drive installs making var or home my giant partition for...

Re: Merger with clearos??
I use ClearOS and Zentyal for small business server testing. Those 2 orgs have alot more staff/$$ than Amahi I suspect and the software shows that imo.. Would or do they work well for a home server...sure they do. Some things about Amahi I just prefer for home use like it's simplicity. Do the clearo...

Re: feature requests
This thread could use another user/admin viewpoint :) 1) Greyhole: I am one that doesn't want/need greyhole on by default. It's best for keeping am7 clean and mean. I also agree those that would use it would/should have the tech chops to get it installed pretty easily. Making it an app sounds best. ...

Re: Proxmox Setup
My Proxmox mini review is in the thread above this one. It's a robust production server with HA clustering and block storage options. I use Vbox one off testing of client setups. Nice to see others here having mostly good luck with it.

Re: Ubuntu 12.04 as VM Host?
I've been using Proxmox since 1.8 now 2.3 for a couple years. It runs my Win SBS 2003, WHS 2011 vm's great. Linux and Win run almost bare metal speed for me with default settings. Not a single hitch with speed or reliability. I use IDE mostly to keep it simple. I've heard good things about using vir...

Re: Ipsec VPN to Sonicwall?
I expect to delve into VPN more too with AM 7. I would also like to learn VPN tunnel termination on pfSense and hardware devices like Sonicwall. I will post here as I test down the road. If the server doesn't do web apps publically for some unforseen reason then my only fallback will be VPN tunnels ...

Re: Amahi Dev Package; Amahi as a (web) developers helping h
Hey. Looking forward to testing Amahi 18's new dnsmasq/apache abilities for multiple web apps accessed publicly (subdomains) on port 80/443. Hope this feature brings in some folks who want a home/SMB server with a bit more functionality in the web section than just intranet. I'm not a web dev but I ...

Re: IP address issues on Ubuntu 12.04.2 server edition
Set the ip as stated above manually during install and ignore the networking error after amahi install is done.
Worked for me recently. There are apps that may want NM. The wiki has the workaround for that.

Re: Amahi Netboot: Beta Testers Needed!
Hi. Netboot/PXE/TFTP is a tech I've played with for many yrs off and on. Its been quite complex in the past. So I decided to try it again by following the wiki. I installed the rpm and fired up a pc with a boot rom and bam...memtest running. Very nice. Never been easier. So then I moved on to trying...
