well, free VMWare is limited to 4 cores.
to me, that makes the decision......

since it is temporary, it does make it difficult......

24 hours.......sounds like Amahi is overwriting.
I wonder (out loud) if we can have these things documented and a way to implement changes for more sophisticated users. The items we should be able to make changes to are DNS, DHCP and maybe Apache........

Just an update on my tinkering. I actually had to revert one of the Proxmox boxes back to ESXi. As a Cisco Unified Communications Engineer, i am installing the latest UC beta software and it is only supported on VMWare. I did have some success with Openfiler but my "production" design for ...

what you are trying to do simply cannot be done.
the app name resolutions come from the built in DNS server in the HDA.
when you are outside your home network, you are not using that DNS server.
You need to connect to your home network using a VPN client.
