Re: Weird problem with home.com

OK, that helps with internal stuff, yes, but what about if you're coming in from the outside? Obviously, I can port-forward a TCP port-80 request through my router to my HDA but what about getting from the main page of my HDA to extplorer? That link, by default, is http://extplorer.home.com/ and it ...

Re: Fedora not using GUI?

Hi everyone, I am trying to get Amahi setup on my thinkpad T40 for a home server. The only problem is that when I ran the Fedora 12 install DVD it ran the text installer and didn't give me an option for the graphical installer. During the install it never asked me to check or uncheck packages or ad...

Re: No network after installing Amahi

Hello, I tried to install the Amahi server. But I ran into a problem. First I installed the Fedora dvd. I end up with a Desktop, and the internet connection is working fine. Tehn I ran the Amahi installer located on the desktop. After the installation is completed, the pc is being restarted. But af...

Change my domain name

How do I change my domain name? I'd imagine I'd have to change the DNS search path in /etc/resolv.conf as well. For some stupid reason, during the web-based setup on Amahi's control panel, I changed home.com to workgroup . I think this may also be why the newly installed app, extplorer , won'...

Re: Shares are filling up...

test raw disk throughput:

Code: Select all

dd if=/dev/zero of=1GiBfile bs=1M count=1000
this draws zeroes from the fastest resource of your system (/dev/zero) and puts blocks of 1MB zeroes x 1000 in the file 1GiBfile :geek:

Whoa, whoa, whoa.... Slow down; I'm no Linux guru.

Explain that again?

Re: Shares are filling up...

Was I correct when I said GH begins the pooling process about 10 seconds after the file hits the share? Almost. GH sleeps for 10 seconds when it has nothing to do. So it should take between 0 and 10 seconds for the files to start getting moved. Was I correct when I said GH begins the pooling proces...

Re: Shares are filling up...

Indeed, running Greyhole manually won't help. If GH can't copy the files locally faster than you can copy them over the network, it probably means it need to create multiple copies (creating 2+ copies locally can be slower than one copy over the network), or that one of the drive in the pool is ver...

Shares are filling up...

I've been playing with this for a couple weeks and I'm liking what Amahi has to offer. I'm wanting to move off of my Windows Home Server but this is holding me up... The default location for shares seem to be on the system drive - /var/hda/files/movies , /var/hda/files/music , /var/hda/files/picture...

Re: Add hard drives

OK, it looks like someone fixed the wiki and the script works correctly now.

I'm still having trouble with copying all my data over in large chunks. I'll look around the forums....
