What errors were you having when using UDP?

Could it be that the network you are on when trying to VPN to your HDA uses the same IP range as the HDA?

On my Ubuntu machines the Windows Network does show up under Network and from there I can see the HDA so I'm not sure why you can't see it. One option is to install Smb4K. It has a nice GUI interface for mounting samba shares.

I don't believe Ubuntu updates will bring FF to 3.5 so I did it manually. Unfortunately running FF 3.5.2 had no effect on the problem.
