Re: Ideal hardware setup for Amahi

Hi there - Standard 7200rpm platter drives can output over 100mb/s. That means that for a 5gb MKV movie file, it can transfer the whole data of the file in around a minute. Obviously thats a perfect world - but even if it's only getting 25% of its normal speed, that means 4 minutes for a movie. Add ...

Re: Locked out of admin account

right - so in this instance at least it was because adding a disk to the amahi server using disk wizard added a line to /etc/fstab. Using the umount command (as disk wizard has no visible way to remove a disk) did not (of course) remove the entry from fstab. I had to boot with that disk still attach...

CLOSED: Locked out of admin account

I have had this happena couple of times now, and I think I have narrowed down why. If I reboot my server after installing multicraft (ie daemon is running) the server will not allow me to log back in, saying that I am locked out of root account. The same thing happens if the server loses power while...

Re: hardware thoughts

So I ended up getting old of a second hand i3-3220 with 8gig ram - in the process of putting amahi onto that.

The amd 8120 w/ hd7850 is now the blender rig,
with the a10-7860k reverting back to its inbuild GPU.

hardware thoughts

Hi all, I have been running amahi for a few weeks now - started out on a dual core AMD x2 5000+ with 4gig ram which worked well. I wanted more power for my son to run a minecraft server, so after a few days I upgraded to a core2duo e6600 powered system with 8gig of ram, the max this board can carry....

CLOSED: Changing Ethernet card

I have recently installed Amahi after trying unsucessfully to carry out the same tasks with Ubuntu (due to my lack of knowledge, not ubuntu's fault) and absolutely love it for its ease of use and functionality. I have noticed though that I have come up against the maximum throughput of the onboard 1...
