Re: Drive choices for a new install: HDD vs SSD
Thanks. Now, it's just a question of whether I should get a 7200 or 5400rpm drive for the OS. I think I will stick with WD Red since they are quiet and designed for NAS. Is it easy to migrate Amahi OS from a partition on a larger drive to a smaller SSD drive later? I'm just trying hard to keep the O...

Re: Drive choices for a new install: HDD vs SSD
Thank you for the quick reply. My other dilemma is that if I use the OS HDD for anything else other than Amahi, it will be potentially running all the time, which would force me to buy a NAS-grade drive like the WD Red, which would not be much cheaper than a 120GB SSD. But I see your point that I ca...

Drive choices for a new install: HDD vs SSD
I have an HP ML310e server and I will have 2x2TB WD Red drives in it with additional 1TB HDD to be added shortly after install. The server has 4 bays. For the past couple of months, I was chasing an SSD drive for Amahi install and bought wrong types for my server etc. That's besides the point. Essen...

Re: Need help installing on HP ML310e using HP Intelligent Provisioning
Thank you. I am now looking for a way to install an SSD and put Amahi on that. I believe I need an extra SATA controller in the server, so I can keep all the drive bays for storage. It seems like making server hardware work as server is more complicated than turning an old PC into server with Amahi....

Re: Need help installing on HP ML310e using HP Intelligent Provisioning
Thank you. So, I started up the server, checked for any HP updates via Intelligent Provisioning. There were no new firmware updates. So, after that I disabled the IP in BIOS, switched the SATA Controller from RAID to AHCI and proceeded to install Fedora 21 from my burned DVD. I got to the stage wher...

Re: Need help installing on HP ML310e using HP Intelligent Provisioning
Thank you! I found this guide: https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Installing_HDA_on_HP_Proliant_Gen8_MicroServer . After reading the Amahi 8 install instructions, I realized that since I need to install Fedora 21 Server edition first, so I should really look for how to install Fedora21 on the HP ML310...

Need help installing on HP ML310e using HP Intelligent Provisioning
Hello, I'm completely new to Amahi (and Linux and servers for that matter) and I would like to get Amahi installed on my newly acquired HP ML310e Gen 8 V2 server. Has anyone done Amahi install on this HP server? So far, I have installed my 2x2TB HDDs and a 32GB MicroSD card into the server. I have n...
