Re: Adding IPv6 DNS resolution to Amahi 7
I've thought through the bits of the Amahi DNS that would need to be changed in order to make it compatible with IPv6. Does this list look about right, or are there other things that would also need to be changed? External DNS, which could be accomplished by changing to OpenDNS IPv6 resolvers, as Pa...

Re: Adding IPv6 DNS resolution to Amahi 7
That is good timing, as I am finally about to install Amahi 7. I guess one of the problems with IPv6 for Amahi is the internal DNS settings, as moving to IPv6 for these is rather more complicated, and potentially breaks the DNS management that is one of the strengths of the HDA. Each app setup proce...

Re: Adding IPv6 DNS resolution to Amahi 7
This is great information, so thanks for your work in pulling it together. I have had a IPv6 allocation for several years but I have not been able to use it because of DNS issues related to IPv6 and Amahi.
I am planning to upgrade to Amahi 7 soon, and when I do, I will follow your guidance for IPv6.

Re: using DNS to block entire domain's for entire LAN
I have mostly got a solution working that achieves the OP's desire to be able to block a individual domain - you can block as many sites as you want by added additional lines to named.conf.local as detailed below. The only element that is not working fully is directing requests to a web-app on my HD...

Re: How To: Migrate from Fedora 14 to Ubuntu 12
Great article. I don't think that I will move to Ubuntu for my HDA (I have a couple of Ubuntu clients, and I think I prefer Fedora), but it will be useful guidance for moving to Amahi 7 when the time comes.

Re: Windows 7 client
I successfully use the Shrewsoft client on my Windows 7 (x64) laptop from work, so it does sound like it is a firewall issue. Testing VPN access is complicated by not being able to do so at home - I end up using a mobile data connection to test it with, as you cannot test it from the home network. T...

Re: using DNS to block entire domain's for entire LAN
From reading the Wiki posting and from studying hdactl , it looks like an option could be added to load a blocklist by adding an additional if statement to hdactl to load a specific blocklist file, which users could provide. The code to add the include named.conf.local is below - a similar line coul...

Re: using DNS to block entire domain's for entire LAN
I have been looking into this as well. I use a blocklist in Outpost firewall on my Windows PCs, and generate the Blocklist from Bluetack data. This is quite a labour intensive option, as I have to update each machine individually and does not work with my Linux machines or for other devices (phones ...

Re: IPSec not working at all.
I am having the same problem with my IPSec VPN, which used to work perfectly until sometime after Christmas. The iPad reports that it is unable to get a response from the server, and looking at firewall logs and doing a packet dump, I can see the initial connection, but this does not progress. As I ...

IPv6 Support in Amahi
I have a native IPv6 connection to my ISP. My router handles the Router Advertisements and DNS for IPv6 Queries. The problem is that if the Router is handling IPv6 DNS, there seems to be a problem with Windows that causes it to send IPv4 queries to the router as well, where they are handled by my IS...
