Re: Thoughts and Wants in Amahi

I agree with most of what he's saying. I came from a Windows Home Server that was limiting with what I could do in terms of media shares. Amahi is so close, yet so far because of how linux/samba permission issues stop making shares easy to use. Is it possible to "Map network drive" my HDA?

Re: Downloading and Greyhole

Is there anything wrong with using a client machine to move the files from the /var/hda/files/torrents folder to the /var/hda/files/videos folder, if the torrents folder is not in the pool and the videos folder is in the pool?

Re: Where/how to load data into shares?

http://wiki.amahi.org is your best friend.

lookup shares.

Once you've got shares working properly on all networked PCs, just offload your data from any machine thru the network to the HDA shared folder you create via the HDA interface.

Re: Help with disk setup and partitioning for 1st timer

For my first amahi install I tried LVM. It was a huge PITA. Just let Amahi's Greyhole integration take care of all your storage outside of the root OS partition. a good config for you, if I was to set it up would be like this: 40gb hd = 30gb ext3 partition for / (root OS) + 4gb partition for swap + ...

Re: DLNA Server and PS3 FF

nvm... got it working, it definitely does help to have a fast (hardwired) network. I've got a gigabit router feeding everything, and even the 100Mbit port on the PS3 is seeing better throughput. I can FF,RW, etc etc with no problems most of the time. my DLNA server plays HD whenever the content perm...

Re: Wine

I've used wine within the Debian-based Linux distros, but not within Fedora yet. If Wine works fine in Fedora 12, then my guess is you can use it just fine. Open a webvnc session and run wine programs from the f12 box.

way to rebuild greyhole/fstab? multi-drive issues

I made a mistake while adding my last 1gb hdd (sdc1) to my storage pool. Iwas following the wiki (http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Adding_a_second_hard_drive_to_your_HDA). In my attempts to fix, I ended up with a duplicate entry of my 1gb drive in the storage partitions, within the HDA GUI. Don't kno...
