Re: File transfer speeds
I am actually confused by this. It is my understanding that you should use the samba share. Greyhole does not "monitor" /var/hda/files. The only way files get processed by greyhole is if samba logs the write. That does not happen if you go direct to /var/hda/files If you dont use the samba...

Re: Migrating from WHS to Amahi via VM
I think you need to start from the end and work backwards.
When this project is done, how do you see things setup?
Amahi in a VM?
Amahi in a VM on WHS?

Re: dos and don'ts .. my edition
with regards to Proxmox and networking......it actually seems not too bad to me. It's really just setting up bridges. The bridges are either internal to Proxmox or bridged to a physical interface. In ESXi, the virtual switches are just bridges. There you add port groups (another bridge) and physical...

Re: File transfer speeds
how are you measuring?
it would be interesting to compare a transfer to the /var/hda/files/ShareName vs the /mnt/samba/ShareName
assuming they are on the same disk, the only difference would be samba's involvement

Amyone using Virtualization?
Since i was one of the requesters i guess i should kick this off..:) I currently use ESXi5 free edition and have Amahi running. I recently became aware of Proxmox and it seems to have lots of advantages. 1. more than 4 vCPUS (ESXi free limitation) 2. more native hardware support. ESXi strongly favor...
